Mărcăuţi este un sat şi comună din raionul Briceni. Din componenţa comunei fac parte 2 localităţi: Mărcăuţi şi Mărcăuţii Noi. Localitatea este situată la o distanţă de 24 km de oraşul Briceni şi 220 km de Chișinău. La recensămîntul din anul 2004, populaţia satului constituia 1571 oameni. Prima atestare documentară a localităţii datează din aprilie 1620, cînd acesta este trecut într-un act al cancelariei domneşti ca satul Marcovăţ din ţinutul Hotin.
