Başcalia este un sat şi comună din raionul Basarabeasca. Başcalia este unicul sat din comuna cu acelaşi nume, situat la distanța de 23 km de orașul Basarabeasca și la 118 km de Chișinău. Conform datelor recensămîntului din anul 2004, populaţia satului constituia 3903 oameni. Satul Bașcalia a fost întemeiat în anul 1832.
