Dereneu este un sat şi comună din raionul Călăraşi. Din componenţa comunei fac parte localităţile: Dereneu, Bularda și Duma. Satul Dereneu este situat la o distanţă de 28 km de oraşul Călăraşi şi la 90 km de Chișinău. La recensămîntul din anul 2004, populaţia satului constituia 1 199 de oameni. Localitatea a fost menționată documentar în anul 1495.
